Overview

What Is a Portable Bathroom?

A portable bathroom is a steel-framed, relocatable room fitted with a shower, a toilet and a hand basin, ready to plumb in on site. It's a full wet room, not a portable toilet: the SCS unit arrives with the fixtures, lining, lighting and ventilation installed, so the only site work is connecting water and power. It serves renovations, remote blocks, events, construction sites, or as the permanent bathroom in a cabin or granny flat. Forklift pockets and lifting lugs let it set down complete, plumbed and tested at the factory.

The Range

Single Unit, Amenities Block and Shower Module

SCS builds three products in the range. The compact Portable Bathroom is the everyday unit: one shower, toilet and basin for a home, cabin or worksite. The portable amenities block is the large public version, 5,850 by 2,250 by 2,530 mm with six WaterMark toilets, four basins, two hand dryers and a nappy change table, built for events, parks and council sites. The Black Shower Module is a flat-pack portable shower enclosure, a 1,000 by 1,000 mm base at 2,050 mm high, that drops into a modular or transportable bathroom.

Compliance

Australian Compliance and Plumbing Standards

Portable bathrooms in Australia are built to the National Construction Code (NCC/BCA), with plumbing to AS/NZS 3500, electrical work to AS/NZS 3000, and WaterMark-certified fixtures. SCS plumbs and wires every unit to those standards at the factory, and the units carry licensed plumbing and electrical certification. Final connection and sign-off rest with a licensed plumber and electrician and the local council at the siting location, since connecting to water, waste and power is a local approval. The maritime container marks you see on freight containers cover shipping, not plumbed amenities, so they don't apply here. What matters for a portable bathroom is the plumbing, electrical and building compliance above.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Three questions buyers ask most often about portable bathrooms.

How does a portable bathroom connect to water and power?

It connects through a standard hose inlet for fresh water, a grey water outlet for waste, and a normal power hookup. The plumbing and wiring are pre-installed at the factory, so on site a licensed plumber and electrician connect the services, level the unit, and it's ready to use.

Is a portable bathroom plumbed?

Yes. The SCS portable bathroom is fully plumbed and wired before it ships, with a dual-flush toilet, shower and basin connected to fresh and grey water lines. The fixtures are WaterMark-certified and the plumbing is built to AS/NZS 3500, with licensed plumbing certification supplied.

What is the difference between a portable bathroom and an amenities block?

A portable bathroom is a single self-contained unit with one shower, toilet and basin, suited to a home, cabin or worksite. An amenities block is the larger public version, with six toilets, four basins and hand dryers, built for events, parks and high-traffic council sites.
